ASUS Zenfone AR – The World’s First 8GB RAM Tango and Daydream-powered Smartphone – Finally Launches in the Philippines
The much awaited game-changing Zenfone AR smartphone finally arrived in the Philippines. This is the latest and advanced mobile phone unit by Asus which the center and being a “star” in every tech conventions and events across the world.
Here’s the good news! Zenfone AR is actually the world’s first 5.7-inch smartphone that is Google Tango-enabled and Daydream-ready, allowing users to experience both mobile virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies. The start of symbolizing a new dawn for mobile and smartphone technology.
To kickoff and officially welcome the Zenfone AR smartphone, Asus Philippines conducted its 1st Asus Zenfone AR Go Virtuality Hackathon in the country. Competing Teams will create an application relevant to Tango technologies which features Tango motion tracking, Tango depth perception, and Tango area learning by using the AR smartphone. This will enable smartphone augmented reality to create unique AR user experiences, such as AR gaming, AR utilities, and indoor navigation.

The Powerful ASUS Zenfone AR TriCam system for Tango experiences
ZenFone AR uses an ASUS TriCam system consisting of three rear cameras — a motion-tracking camera, depth-sensing camera, and high-resolution 23MP PixelMaster 3.0 camera — which provide input to Tango, enabling smartphone augmented reality experiences for users. The motion-tracking camera lets ZenFone AR keep track of its location as it moves through three-dimensional space. The depth-sensing camera lets ZenFone AR determine its distance from objects by projecting an infrared (IR) laser and measuring the amount of time it takes for IR light to bounce off objects and return to the phone. The 23 MP PixelMaster 3.0 camera features a Sony IMX 318 image sensor to vividly capture the environment as a backdrop for AR experiences.AR is a rapidly growing area of mobile technology, and one that consumers are extremely excited about.
